How it works and what it stores
A private test for invited families. Free during the two-week test; we ask for no payment details.
What it does
- You paste a link to a recipe video or a recipe web page, paste recipe text, or add photos of a recipe. The app turns it into steps with time, temperature and speed for a Thermomix TM6 or TM7.
- You can send the recipe to your own Cookidoo account, or cook it from the cooking screen in this app.
- The steps are written by an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic). It can get quantities, times and temperatures wrong. Read the recipe before you cook, and use your own judgement on anything that matters for food safety.
Who runs it
- Run by the person who invited you.
- We are not affiliated with Vorwerk. Thermomix and Cookidoo are trademarks of the Vorwerk group, used here only to say what the app works with.
The Cookidoo connection
- It is unofficial. Vorwerk offers no way for other services to add recipes to your account, so the app signs in to Cookidoo as you.
- Cookidoo's terms do not allow giving your login to another service. Vorwerk could block the connection at any time, and could suspend an account that uses it. We have not seen that happen, but we cannot rule it out. If you are not comfortable with that, do not connect: the cooking screen works without it.
- Your password is used once to sign in and is not stored. What is stored is the signed-in session, encrypted. If Cookidoo stops accepting it, you are asked to sign in again.
What we store
- Your invite, as a scrambled value that cannot be turned back into the code, and the name we gave your family.
- If you connect Cookidoo: your Cookidoo email address, which Cookidoo site you use, and the encrypted session.
- Your last 30 recipes: the converted version, your edited version, and the Cookidoo link once sent, so you can cook them from the cooking screen.
- Counts of what was used: when a recipe was converted, whether it came from a video, web page, photo or text, which site the video or page came from, whether you edited it before sending, whether a step failed and its error message, how long it took, what the AI cost, and when you signed in or connected Cookidoo. The recipe text is not part of these counts.
- Your answer to "Did it cook fine?" if you give one.
What leaves our server
- The recipe text, the video's caption and spoken words, the video stills (unless you untick "Also read the text shown in the video") and the photos you add are sent to Anthropic to be converted.
- A video you link to is downloaded to our server, listened to there, and deleted as soon as its caption, spoken words and stills have been taken from it.
- A web page you link to is read by our server once, to take the recipe text, and its main picture is fetched once.
- A recipe you send to Cookidoo goes to Vorwerk, into your own account.
- Nothing is sold or shared with anyone else.
Limits during the test
- 10 conversions a week for each family, and 15 video reads.
- Videos up to 3 minutes.
- Up to 50 recipe web pages a day.
- One video is processed at a time, so you may wait a few minutes when others are converting.
Removing your data
- "Disconnect Cookidoo" on the connection screen deletes the stored session and email.
- "Delete everything stored for us" also deletes your recipes here. Recipes already in Cookidoo stay in Cookidoo.
- To remove your invite and the usage counts as well, tell the person who invited you.
